under 16 boys rock the plain!

Our debut at the U/16 Rock a Fella's tournament over the Women's Day long weekend, proved to be a resounding success. The boys reached the semi-finals and lost out on a penalty shoot-out, after a tense encounter against the eventual winners, Milano AFC. The group stage fixtured us against Atlantis Leeds (won 2-0), Morgenster United (won 5-0) and Old Mutual Academy (0-0). Our exploits at this stage of the tournament, blew the strong opposition away....where we ended up as Group Winners, without conceding a goal.

First round of the knock-out fixtures we were up against FC Cape Flats (won 2-0) moving us to a quarter final tie against Juventus. We won this match 2-1 and progressed to the semi-final against Milano AFC. Against all the odds, at this stage of the tournament, we stormed into a 2-0 lead and were looking comfortable. Unfortunately we conceded at critical times and allowed Milano back into the game when they equalized from an injury time penalty. The momentum shifted in the opposition's favour and they won the penalty shoot out.

After this devastating result, the spirits of our boys were lifted, when they were awarded the following:
Highest tournament goal scorer - Matthew Peterson
Team of the tournament - Stephanian Ottery AFC

Coach Quinton Pastor/Juggy Daniels had the following to say..."The future looks very bright for Stephs...for the boys"

The EXCO would like to thank and acknowledge the success of the team and we proud that they have promoted the brand of football, our club would like to display. Special thanks to all players, coaches , supporters and parents.
